USBK Championship returns to Kirkistown for round 4 and is promoted by the Belfast and District Motorcycle Club. Practice at Kirkistown Race Circuit will start at 9am for the scheduled practice sessions followed by Racing. All races will count towards USBK and the Irish championships.
A 20-race program is on the cards for what will be an exciting days racing, once again we have visiting competitors from Scotland, England and Ireland who will compete in nine race classes. The Belfast & District Club will run two features races to make up for the disappointment of cancelling Easter Mondays event due to the horrendous weather. The Presidents Cup is awarded to the Pre Injection class and Mayors Trophy is for Superbikes.
The Superbike class has regained its strength in entry numbers after a few years of poor entries, Gerard Kinghan currently level pegs with 2017 Superbike Champion Charles Stuart on 90 points each from Ali Kirk on 42 points who hasn’t entered the event. David Haire will be trying to recover some vital points come Saturday, Aaron Armstrong, Jamie Coates, Callum Laidlaw, Stephen McAdoo are also entered.
Supersport 600 races are the most exciting races of the day. Korie McGreevy has 70 points and a 22-point advantage over his brother Kia in the Championship with Ross Patterson is just 3 points adrift of Kia. Our BSB contestants Robert Kennedy and Richard Kerr are entered which should mix it up with the front runners, also entered is Christian Elkin, Mark Conlin, Jaimie Rea, Lee Clarke, Darren Keys and Jason Lynn.
Sidecars have their second outing in the Championship at Kirkistown and have a strong entry line up with 13 machines, they will be paying their respects to fellow competitor Aidan Browne who lost his life in an RTA recently. Aidan was a regular competitor on short circuits and at the Isle of Man TT. Aidan will be greatly missed by all in the paddock and we send our deepest sympathies to his family.
Young Guns and Junior Cup classes which run concurrently once again a strong entry with 20 entered, this class is for some of our youngest competitors who can start racing at 12yrs.
We have several other race classes on the program, Supertwins, Production Twins, Moto 3, Pre Injection, Lightweight Supersports Classics plus the Cup classes. Trophy presentation will take place at the end of the days racing for overall podium positions.
